International Travel

When traveling internationally with your pet, your destination country may have specific health requirements that must be met before your pet can enter that country. Since export requirements are determined by each country and can change frequently, you will need to verify the export requirement every time you plan to travel with your pet. Be sure to check with your airline to determine what requirements they may also have.

You should check the requirements for whatever country you will be entering at APHIS/USDA Pet Travel to determine the specific requirements and timeline you must follow to ensure a smooth, problem-free entry into that country with your pet.

Domestic Travel

Most airlines require that you obtain a health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian within ten days of travel, but some only require vaccination status. Please check with your individual airlines to confirm.

  • It is the pet owner’s responsibility to make sure their pet has met the requirements of the destination country.
  • Failure to meet the requirements may result in problems gaining certificate endorsement or difficulties upon arrival in the destination country.
